How to choose and change a video's aspect ratio
Biteable supports video creation in four different sizes — 1:1 (square), 16:9 (landscape), 9:16 (vertical), and 4:5 (portrait/social). The easiest way to create a video in your desired shape is to choose a template or generate an AI video in that aspect ratio. The right aspect ratio for your video will depend on your intended use case and platform. Many social media platforms prefer video content optimized for their platform — for example, using vertical 9:16 videos on TikTok or Instagram Reels. Generally, users choose each aspect ratios for the following use cases:

When creating a video from scratch, you'll have the option to choose an aspect ratio before entering the editor. It's easier to start with the aspect ratio you're likely to use, rather than switching between aspect ratios after you've started making your video.
To create a new video from scratch, click the purple plus sign "+" button at the top left of your dashboard, then choose "Create a video from scratch."

It's possible to change your video's aspect ratio after you've started editing your video, but you'll likely need to rearrange a few of your video's assets to fit the new shape once you've done so.
To change your video's aspect ratio:
Open a video project and select the "video settings" button next to the title of your video at the top of the page

Use the aspect ratio toggle to choose your new video shape. Click the "Duplicate" button to create a copy of your project in your new shape. Your original project in its original size will still be available in your projects.

Adjust the text and assets to fit on your new canvas. To go back to your original aspect ratio, head back to your projects folder and select the original project. It will be the same as you left it before changing the ratio.
