Upload your own videos, images, and audio
Personalize any video by uploading your own media. This article covers how to upload, what file types and sizes work, and how to handle transparent assets.
Ways to upload
- Drag and drop (easiest): drag a file from your computer into the editor. Drop near the border of the canvas to set it as the full-screen background, or toward the middle to add it as a moveable foreground asset. To upload without placing it, open your uploads folder and drop it there — assets dropped on the canvas are added to your uploads too.
- From the content bar: in a project, click Uploads to the left of the canvas, then Upload media — or pick any previously uploaded asset.
- Replace a scene's media: select the scene, choose Replace background, then Uploads → Upload media.
- From your Asset Library: click Assets in the side menu, choose My uploads or Team uploads, then click Upload media. Assets uploaded here are available in every project — see Your Asset Library.
Supported file types and size limits
- Video — MP4, MOV, or WebM, up to 700 MB per file
- Image — PNG, JPG/JPEG, or SVG, up to 50 MB per file
- Audio — MP3 (works best), WAV, or M4A, up to 250 MB per file
Images look best uploaded at 1080p; for logos, aim for at least 1000px. To resize an image first, use the free image resizer tool. Need a screenshot? Use the built-in tools on Windows or Mac, or Biteable's screen recorder for footage.
Transparent video and animations
Transparent assets (like animated logos) must be uploaded as WebM files — other video formats will render with a background. If you need help converting a file to WebM, contact support.
Uploaded video with audio
If your clip includes audio, any soundtrack or voiceover automatically ducks while the clip's audio plays. Select the scene to adjust or mute the clip's volume — see Edit uploaded media.
If an upload fails
See Problem with uploaded assets — usually a re-upload or a format conversion fixes it.
