Adding an image to the background of a scene

You can add an image to the background of a scene so that it fills up the entire canvas and is positioned behind any other element (graphics, text, images) in the scene.

To add a background image to a scene, follow these steps.

From the timeline or the Scene panel, select the scene you’d like to add your image to
Click “Add background” from the toolbar — the Content Bar will appear allowing you to select an image from the built-in stock library
Select an image from the stock library or click “Uploads” to select an image from your personal or shared uploads

Adding an image to the foreground of a scene

You can add an image to the foreground of a scene. Images in the foreground are placed above the background image and can be placed behind or on top of other foreground images. Use the Layers panel to set the position of the image in the foreground.

To add a foreground image to a scene, follow these steps:

From the timeline or the Scene panel, select the scene you’d like to add your image to
Use the menu to the left of the Scene panel and click on “Uploads” to add one of your own images, or click “Stock” to choose an image from our built-in library.
Select your image to add it to your scene

To remove an image, select it in the canvas, then click on the trash can icon.

Pro-tip: If you're uploading a PNG image, make sure that the size is less than 1920px in its widest/longest side to preserve transparency.

Adjusting your image

After adding your image, several controls will become available to adjust how it looks. Click on the image you wish to adjust — this will display the image properties sidebar to the right of the canvas.

To change the size of the image, click the image to select it and then click on one of the corners of the image box to change the size. Click and drag the image to move it to a new location on the canvas.

With the image selected, you can use the controls in the properties panel to adjust the opacity, add a frame, flip your image, or add an effect.

Adding an image frame

Image Frame

You can frame your image in a circle, square, rounded circle, or no shape (transparent). Use the "Add/Adjust frame" button to easily crop an image.

Background

Select a color by clicking the circle next to Background. This will prompt a color picker where you can choose from the palette or add a hex code. Once you're satisfied, click Save.

Size

Zoom your image in or out using the size slider. This is helpful to have your image fit the frame.

Animating your image

Biteable has several animations that can be applied to foreground images. To select one, first select your image, then look in the image properties panel on the right.

Animations options include:
Fade in: Your image begins in mysterious fogginess, and transitions gracefully to solid clarity
Scale up: Your image starts as a small, faraway thing, and grows to its full potential in a quick blink
Elegant rise: Like the sun, your logo rises quickly to light up your scene
Rotate Bounce: Your logo does a pretty, enthusiastic spin like a ballet dancer

Conclusion

You now know how to add an image to the foreground and background of a video scene. To apply a foreground image to every scene, use the Watermark feature to apply it to every scene in your video.
