Hard Reload & Clear Cache
If you’re experiencing issues with Biteable, clearing your browser’s cache and performing a hard reload can help. This guide walks you through the steps.
Common Questions
- My scenes just say "generating preview"

- Why can't I hear the audio in my video when previewing?
When building videos in Biteable, we use different resources in your browser. Sometimes these resources need to be cleared out to optimize performance. Doing a Hard Reload + Clear Cache is a helpful step you can perform if you experience performance issues.
A hard reload can be a common fix for issues such as:
- My scenes just say "generating preview"
- Editing is slow and laggy
- I can't upload images or videos
- I can't hear the audio in my video while previewing
- The website is slow
Google Chrome (Mac)
- Hold down the
Cmd ⌘andShiftkeys and pressR. - Alternatively, you can open the Chrome Dev Tools by pressing
Cmd ⌘+Opt+I. Once the Chrome Dev Tools are open, right-click on the browser Reload button and chooseEmpty Cache and Hard Reload.
Google Chrome (Windows/Linux)
- Open the Chrome Dev Tools by pressing
F12. Once the Chrome Dev Tools are open, right-click on the browser Reload button and chooseEmpty Cache and Hard Reload. - Alternatively, hold down the
Ctrlkey and click the Reload button. - Alternatively, hold down the
Ctrlkey and pressF5.
Firefox (Windows/Linux)
- Hold down the
CtrlandF5keys at the same time. - Alternatively, you can clear the cache and perform a hard reload by going to
History>Clear Recent Historyand selectingCacheandEverythingfrom the drop-down menus. Then, clickClear Now.
Firefox (Mac)
- Hold down the

Settings>Privacy, search, and services>Clear browsing dataand selectingCached images and filesandEverything else. Then, clickClear now.
Microsoft Edge (Mac)
- Hold down the

Safari (Mac)
NOTE: We highly recommend using browsers that are NOT Safari due to missing technology components that Biteable uses in our video editor that are not supported in Safari.- Go to
Safari>Empty Caches. - Alternatively, hold down the
OptionandCmd ⌘keys and pressE. - To refresh the page, click the Refresh button on the address bar or press
Cmd+R.
Internet Explorer (Windows)
- Hold down the
Ctrlkey and click the Refresh button. - Alternatively, hold down the
Ctrlkey and pressF5. - To clear the cache, go to
Tools>Internet Options>General>Browsing historyand clickDelete. Then, select theTemporary Internet files and website filescheckbox and clickDelete.
Note that these instructions are for the latest versions of each browser. If you are using an older version, the steps may be slightly different.
