Generating preview issues
Biteable videos include lots of different content that we send to your browser. There are a variety of factors that could cause slowness or errors. If you are seeing any errors, including "Generating Preview," this article will share several troubleshooting steps to help resolve different issues.
These steps are listed in order using a combination of effectiveness and ease of use.
We recommend using Chrome and keeping your Chrome version as up-to-date as possible. Chrome is the most widely used browser on the Internet and is used across Mac and PC environments. This is one of the easiest and best first steps for troubleshooting. Updating is as easy as navigating to the About Google Chrome menu and checking if there are any updates you can install.
There are situations where Chrome has introduced something that creates conflicts with Biteable. Typically these get resolved quickly in our software or in Chrome updates. However, trying out Firefox or Edge (on PCs) is a great way to see whether the issue is browser or browser version specific. If you have issues that persist across different browsers, it may be something related to your network, network settings, or a problem that Biteable needs to resolve.
Restarting your computer can help to fix internet issues on some web applications because it clears the system cache and allows the system to start from a clean slate. The cache can become overloaded with data and can cause issues with web applications. Restarting your computer clears the cache and helps to reduce the chances of an issue occurring. Additionally, restarting the computer can help to reset any internet connection problems and can even help to reset any settings that may have been changed without your knowledge.
Navigate to chrome://net-internals/#dns and press the "Clear host cache" button. Then refresh your browser and see if your issues have been resolved in Biteable.
